Shiran and the Cherry Blossoms

The best moments about spring is the blooming of the flowers, especially Cherry Blossoms. Throughout time they have been known to become more than a just elegant tree. They have become an icon, especially in Japanese culture where people had festivals celebrating the tree over food and drinks. The iconic tree symbolizes beauty, joy, destiny, and karma which is present in their art and animation.

Here in America, especially on the east coast, we have a range of Cherry Blossom Festivals such as the National Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. and the Cherry Blossom Festival in Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, New York City.

Fortunate for me there was no need to go miles away to find Cherry Blossoms where there was a bunch of them blooming on every street corner around my neighborhood. I was able to take advantage of this opportunity to shoot my model, Shiran around the Cherry Blossom. Since the tree symbolizes beauty and life, Shiran was the perfected candidate for this shoot.
